Privacy Policy

GB Guest House, Ghatsila (“we”, “us”), oppo. St. Paul School, Nuagaon, Ghatsila, East Singhbhum, Jharkhand 832303, respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules. We are the Data Fiduciary for the data described here.

1. What we collect

• Booking and contact forms: your name, phone number, email address, check-in and check-out dates, number of guests, preferred room and any message you write.
• Technical data: when you send a form we record your IP address, browser type, the page you sent it from and the time, to prevent spam and abuse.
• At check-in: a copy of the government photo ID of every adult guest, your address and, for foreign nationals, passport, visa and other details required for Form C.
• Payments: the UPI or bank transfer reference and amount of your advance. We never ask for card numbers, PINs or OTPs.

2. Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry, check availability, confirm and manage your booking, and contact you by phone, WhatsApp or email about it.
• To keep the guest register and report foreign guests (Form C) as required by law, and to keep accounts and tax records.
• To keep the guest house and this website safe, including CCTV in the corridors and spam protection on the forms.

We process form data on the basis of the consent you give when you send it, and check-in data because the law requires it. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Who we share it with

• Our website hosting and booking management providers, who store the data only to run these services for us.
• Police and other government authorities, when the law requires it (for example the guest register and Form C).
• If you message us on WhatsApp, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.

4. Cookies and third-party content

This website uses only a security cookie that protects the booking and contact forms. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and booking details only as long as needed to handle your request and stay, and for any longer period required by tax, police or other laws. After that we delete them.

6. Security

We take reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections for this website and restricted access to guest records. If a personal data breach occurs, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

7. Your rights

• Ask what personal data we hold about you and how it is used.
• Ask us to correct, complete, update or delete it, unless we must keep it by law.
• Withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect what we did before, and we may then be unable to handle your booking.
• Nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to do so.
• Raise a grievance with us, and if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

8. Children

Bookings must be made by an adult (18 or over). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through this website; a child's details are collected at check-in only from their parent or guardian.

9. Grievance Officer

For any question, request or complaint about your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge your request promptly and resolve it within one month.
